Get your new home checked by independant experts
I have always done all the maintenance on my homes, but when we recently decided to sell up and buy a smaller, low maintenance home, decided to get it checked by the experts first, just in case! When we looked at it, there was no mention of any concerns or previous damage by the agent or the owner, so you can image our surprise, when the building inspection company (First Inspections Ltd) asked if we were aware there had been a fire in the home? I hadn’t noticed it myself, but they realized that a lot of the timber within the roof space had been painted, which is most unusual, so checked it out further and found out, it was all fire damaged, and had been painted to conseal the damage. Lucky for us, we had got the inspection done before handing over our money!!
