Redundancy Advice From A Person Who Has Come Through It

 

Redundancy can be one of the most terrifying prospects imaginable. Many people spend long periods of time at companies and the thought of finding a new job is as scary as the prospect of not having one. I was made redundant from my management job in a major retail chain and didn’t know where to turn to, especially as I was approaching 50. My redundancy advice is to think about what skills you have gained from your work and see how they can be applied to prospective jobs. I now work in marketing, after convincing my employer that years spent with consumers gave me a great understanding of their needs. They took me on straight away, and I’m having a great time!
