Web credibility project

Stanford University is investigating why people believe, or don’t believe the things they see on the web in their Web Credibility Project.  The University’s Persuasive Technology Lab aims to tackle questions regarding the persuasiveness of the web such as the causes of why people believe what they see on the internet, how internet users evaluate the credibility of an online source, what contextual and design factors influence those evaluations, and why the evaluation of credibility differs on the web from those made in offline contexts such as face-to-face interaction.  Anyone can use a squarespace coupon code and put up a site and fill it with whatever content they choose. The study will be ongoing and use quantitative research, public information collection to develop their findings.
