Agency and Accountability

Sunday, November 22nd, 2009

It is mormon doctrine that free agency, or the power to choose for oneself, is a god-given right and gift. In fact, it is an eternal principle. No one can force us to do anything; we always have a choice. Along with this gift, however, comes the great responsibility of accountability. God has also given us commandments. We can choose to break those commandments, but we cannot choose the consequences of failing to keep them. Mormon doctrine teaches that we will each ultimately be held accountable for each of our chocies. This knowledge should be liberating, but should also give us pause and make us consider our choices carefully.

Jackie has been going to school for interior design.  She is really enjoying it and feels like it is going to be a great career to get into.  She has been interested in interior design for the last 5 years and is very talented.  She has been working to save money for this school.  I asked her if she new what interior designer salaries were in this area.  She told me that it does vary from location to location.  She said when you first start out you don’t make that much but after you build a reputation you can make a lot.

Randy Charach is the Best Speaker

Thursday, November 19th, 2009

I wanted to get a speaker for our annual banquet night that would be funny and entertaining, but still have a lot to tell us about business, and success. I think the perfect guy for the event was who I was able to get, Randy Charach. He is very funny and entertaining, and even did a lot of magic for us. Then, he talked all about how he learned to market himself. He changed the way people say magicians just with the work that he did online. Marketing for people like him now is much easier. I loved everything he spoke about.

The Average wages for surgical tech Are Quite Good!

Wednesday, November 18th, 2009

My friend Amy, who I went to high school with, has just been here in our hometown for a visit.  We had a really great time talking about the old days and just catching up on each other’s lives.  Amy and I were talking about my lack of a career that I love, and then she mentioned that the wages for surgical tech, which is her own job, are very good and that it is a very fulfilling position also.  It made me think about the whole thing in a whole new light and I may be considering a career swap myself.

Exmormon Stigma

Saturday, November 14th, 2009

Some Mormons think that just because someone is an exmormon that he or she is a bad person. This is absolutely untrue and even goes directly against Mormon doctrine. All being an exmormon necessarily means is that someone committed a serious enough sin that the disciplinary council recommended they be released from covenants he or she made which would make the consequences for that sin even more dire. The doctrine of the Mormon church teaches love and forgiveness. If someone is excommunicated, they are encouraged to go through the necessary steps of repentance, to be re-baptized, and to return to full activity in the Church.

How to Apply for Free Government College Grants

Thursday, November 12th, 2009

When you apply for free government college grants you may become overwhelmed by the paperwork involved. The people that provide the Pell Grant are often looking for students with special circumstances that need the federal funding before everyone else. Although it is a good idea to apply for federal aid early in the year, this does not guarantee that you will receive the full amount of the grant itself. People that are in special circumstances such as single mothers or students that come from low income homes will be first in line to receive free federal aid. This does not mean you should not apply as most people receive some money from the federal stimulus package.

My husband wants to take me on a trip

Tuesday, November 10th, 2009

My husband wants to book a trip to Europe this year for our anniversary, and I do not speak any foreign dialects so I guess I will have to see what kind of training is available. I could go online and try to find language program reviews if there are any. I might also call the school and see if the teachers there could recommend any particular ones to me. I think I could learn that way, I remember the records I had to listen too when I was trying to learn Spanish in school, but it didn’t stick, I still cannot say but a few words.

Sweden’s military

Monday, November 9th, 2009

In 1975 the total number of conscripts was 45,000. By 2003 it was down to 15,000. After the Defence Proposition of 2004, the number of troops in training will decrease even more to between 5,000 and 10,000 each year. The need to recruit only the soldiers later prepared to volunteer for international service will be emphasized. The total forces gathered would consist of about 60,000 men. This could be compared with the 80s before the fall of the Soviet Union, when Sweden could gather up to 1,000,000 men. Swedish units have taken part in peacekeeping operations in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Cyprus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Liberia, Lebanon, Afghanistan and Chad. Currently, one of the most important tasks for the Swedish Armed Forces has been to form a Swedish-led EU Battle Group to which Norway, Finland, Ireland and Estonia will also contribute.
