The same early Proto-Indo-European source

A seminary, theological college, or theology college is a special and oftentimes live-in higher teaching establishment for the intention of teaching students in philosophy, theology, spirituality and the sacred living, usually in order to prepare them to be members of the clergy. Students in a theological college especially of the Roman Catholic Church are called Seminarists. The word “Systematic Theology” comes from the Latin word seminarium “seed bed”, the neuter form of seminarius “of or linked to seed”, applied as a noun. This word is appropriate because a theological college is where the seeds of religious life are planted. The root of this word is semen “seed”, which originates from the same early Proto-Indo-European source that gave us English seed and sow.Different organized religions and cultures also have divine schools analogous to Western Seminaries. The Islamic and Jewish equivalents to a Western theological college are called Madrasa and Yeshiva, respectively.
