Grand Theft Golf Carts
Before you consider taking a handy golf cart (that isn’t yours) for a little joy ride in Hawaii, remember that if caught, you are looking at up to FIVE YEARS in the pokey (plus a fine of up to $10,000) for your little adventure. A Lihu’e man is learning this the hard way after stumbling across one of a beach club’s golf carts with the keys in the ignition, and took off for a little trip down city streets. The cops pulled him over, he’s plead guilty, and awaiting sentence. In Hawaii, this is a “class C felony of unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle”, just as if he had stolen an automobile.
